CAR DRIVER ON TRIAL IN SUPREME COURT Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. An accident on Jervois Quay, Wellington, on the evening of May 12 last, in which three members of the crew of the steamer Maliia were struck from behind by a passing motor-car, had its sequel in the Supreme Court to-day, when Cyril Farquhar Chapman, a clerk, aged 33, stood his trial before a Judge and jury on a charge of negligent driving, thereby causing injuries to tfvo/of the pedestrians. The allegation of the Crown was that Chapman either was not keeping a proper look-out or had had so much liquor prior to the accident that he was not controlling the car in a proper manner. I The case, which was heard before Mr Justico Blair, was not finished when the adjournment, was taken, and will be resumed to-morrow morning.
