From Our Own Correspondent. Tiia Carnarvon School football team played the Ohakea boys on Thursday afternoon, in continuation of the Brown Cup series. There was a large attendance of parents and in a thrilling game Carnarvon ran out winners by IS to 13. Conditions were good, although the ground was heavy after recent rains. Carnarvon quickly ran to an 11 points lead with tries by Vallender and Gledliill (3). Walker then scored well out for Ohakea. Gledhill again scored and converted and at half time the score- was Carnarvon IG, Ohakea 3. 1 Ohakea gradually overnauled their opponents’ score with two great tries by .Walker, which Ellery converted. How.ever, Gledhill scored again and the game ended in favour of Carnarvon 13 to 13. Mr. 1\ .Richardson refereed. Alter the game the visitors were entertained at afternoon tea, and i>. Arrangements were made to have, supplies of tirewood delivered and also to have the sanitary arrangements overhauled. Accounts amounting to £1 19s 2d were passed for payment. Ereliminary arrangements were made for the annual school ball and a tentative date was fixed, September 28, but it was decided to hold a meeting of parents, early 'in August, to discuss the venue of the jlance. Erecklington, who is suffering from a severe attack of pneumonia, is still serious. The local Miniature Rifle Club lias laid another challenge for the McKelvie Cup, held by the Buffs Club, and the match will plage on Tuesday next. The football season as far as the local club is concerned, can be stated to have finished. The seniors were defeated last Saturday by Awahuri at Sanson in the final of the Jones Cup and it is doubtful if the juniors will muster a team again. Their record is a very poor one, not having yypp, fi gain.e, and haying a list of forfeits that should not occurred with a little “'liiore - enthusiasm among the players.'"-"' 1
