The Town Clerk reported that at a recent meeting held in connection with the proposed road from Shannon to Levin, via KopUtaroa, the land for the purpose had been given, and it was only n matter of a short time when the work would be proceeded with, road constructed, and bridges built. This road would give a level highway in place of the hilly road connecting the two towns. Only about one mile of road remained to be completed. , The Borough. Foreman reported that 13$ yards metal had been carted on to various streets, and water tables had been cleaned out. The work of picking in sides of Stafford street "was still in progress, about 15 chains being completed. The entrance to> Mrs. Rotter’s place had been attended to. Suckers of trees, and stones, had been removed from Plimmer terrace. The corners of Stafford .street- and aNthan terrace and Sheenan street had been put ia order. The era of tho main highway and' Plimmer terrace were receiving attention and would be finished in a few days. The holes had been dug for trees, and soil loosened round trees in tire BomHin. The usual maintenance work in the cemetery had been carrieu out, and also at the water works. Rubbish had been carted to the dump.
