Polish Minister Assassinated
SHOT DOWN IN WARSAW. United Press Association— By Electria Telegraph—Copyright. AVAR AW, June 15. M. B. Pieraeki, the Polish Minister of the Interior, was leaving his club when three shots were fired at him with fatal effect. He was shot in the head, and the other bullets struck him in tho bodv. He died in hospital. The crime is believed to have been political. Two men involved in the assassination escaped by scaling a tlurt\foot wall. . . The police are combing the city, seeking the assassins. M. Pieraeki was on 6 oi the ablest Polish politicians and was expected to succeed to the Premiership._ He had an adventurous career, and in the war fought with the Polish Legion, in which he was colonel. He was one of Marshal Pilsudski’s closest friends. Murderers Still Free Received Sunday, 7 p.m. WARSAW, June 16. The police have arrested 100 persons in connection with the assassination of M. Pieraeki, but tho murderers are still free. The public is divided between a belief that Nazis or Ukrainian terrorists were ■ responsible. A crowd smashed Nazi newspaper office windows, while Nazis retaliated on a pro-Govornmcnt newspaper.
