ALLEGED ATTEMPT TO MODIFY EVIDENCE Per Press Association. HAMILTON, Juno 8. Arising from the Judge’s intimation yesterday that a Crown witness had been approached by a certain poison and asked to modify tho evidonco at the second trial of J. A. Asher, hotelkeeper, of Tokoanu, and charged with false pretences, Eric Troutbcck Hutton, of Tokaanu, appeared in tho Magistrate’s Court at Hamilton to-day before Justices of tho Peace and was remanded to appear to-morrow, bail of £IOO being fixed. Hutton is charged that on Juno Gtk he wilfully attempted to defeat the course cf justico by asking a witness for the Crown to alter her evidence to assist Asher’s case.
