Wool circles here share the Australian view that the setback in tho price of wool has gono too far. The general opinion prevailing is that tho depression in the market will bo transient and the outlook may bo considerably brighter towards the end of the month. News from Germany, however, is dis-

quieting. It is proposed to levy a tax on German users of foreign wool in order to pay higher fixed prices to German producers with a view to encouraging them to increase productino. Consumers have now received permission during a period of si»x months to purchase the quantities needed; but there is no guarantee that the Hciehs Bank will be able to supply the necessary foreign exchange.
