Proposal Not Favoured by Headmasters
SENDING OF BOY ATHLETES TO MELBOURNE CELEBRATIONS. Per Press Association. ' WELLINGTON, Last Night. The annual meeting of the Association of Heads of Registered Secondary Schools of New Zealand adopted a resolution expressing (he opinion that it was inadvisable to send secondary school athletes from New Zealand to the Melbourne centenary celebrations on the grounds: (1} It would tend to have an undesirable influence on the character and geneiai outlook of the boys by giving sport undue value in their minds; (2) it would take the boys away from school for at least one month; (3) it would be contrary to the best traditions of school sport in New Zealand, which regards sport as part of tile school life, to be controlled and managed by the schools themselves and not by outside bodies.
