From Our Own Correspondent. School Affairs. The monthly meeting of the s' - : 11 ®® 1 mtttee was held on Thursday night when Mr E. .T. Bowater presided over a full attendance of members. The secretary (Mr. D. C. Sanson) reported on the meetinf; held at Taikorea in connection with the school basketball competition and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. T> J.Koster for his donation of a. rose, bowl for the competition. Mr. Koster said he was only too pleased to ao any thine in his power to lo3tei sport amongst the children. The chairman reported that the school and surroundings were in a very satisfactory state The report of the head teacher (Mr. «• J---Francis) stated that Mr. E. H. Lango, agricultural Instructor. ha« recently visited the school and expressed pleasure at the condition of the school and surroundings. ft was resolved that Mrs. Earl Bowater be asked to coach_the school basketball team. The chairman asked members to make any jMEgestlons for school improvement, etc., and an m teresting discussion brought many suggestions forward, which will; be considered at a later meeting. Visiting committee for the month will be Messrs -D. Koster and D. C. Sanson. Ladies’ Basketball. A meeting of delegates was held at Rongotoa when Mr. E. J. Bowater was voted to the chair. The following clubs were represented: Ivopane, Rongotea, cai narv-on, Itosina, Sanson and Awahuri The secretary (Miss Dindsay) submitted a draft set of rules and these were adopted. The secretary submitted a, list of fixtures for approval. Since th ° ? were arranged the Rangiotu club had written stating that transport difficulty may stop them from playing. If was r - solved to adopt the fixtures as submitted and to give Rangiotu a bye for the first day's play. It was resolved to play two rounds. This will entail home and homo games between the teams. Some discussion took place regarding a permanent trophy for the members of the winning team. It was resolved to procure rntniature cups for this purpose. It was Reived that the trophy donated by Messrs Davison and Hill bo engraved Uie Davi-son-Hill Challenge Cijp. It was resolved that the home team arrange for referee. Miss Dindsay, Miss Brenmcr and Mrs. W. A Davison were elected an executive committee to deal with matters of minor detail.
