LONDON, Oct. 27. The price of gold is 131 s 03d (?) per oz. fine. AMERICAN DOLLAR LONDON, Oct. 27. Exchange on Now York is 4.714 dollars to £l. BUTTER AND CHEESE DAIRY BOARD’S ADVICES. The Dairy Board’s weekly cable from London shows that the butter market is weak and irregular and quotes New Zealand salted as selling at lrorn 90s to 04s and up to OGs per cwt. (which equals ajiproximately 10.8 d per ib. f.0.b.), and unsalted butter at lU6s to 110 s. Other butter prices arc: Australian salted, 90s to 94s and up to 90s; uusaltod, 102 s to 106 s; Danish, spot, 114 s to 115 s. The retail price for New Zealand butter is still Is Id per ib., but the price for Danish has been increased to Is 3d. Both prices, however, will be reduced by Id per ib. next week. English finest farmers’ is slow at 70s to 88s. The retail price for New Zealand cheese is unchanged at 6d per lb. The quantity of Canadian cheese in store is reported at 171,629 boxes. i’rices for New Zealand butter show a decline since last week of about 5s per cwt. and for cheese about Is. New Zealand choicest butter this time last year was realising up to 106 s, compared with 90s to-day; and white cheese was selling at 68s to 695, as against 47s to 48s to-day. HGS AND POULTRY The Dominion Auctioneering Company, Palmerston North, reports an extra heavy yarding of pigs and a large yarding of poultry at its mart sales on Saturday last. Bor good quality pigs tho prices were practically the same as those realised for the'previous week. Realisations were as follows: — Pigs: Weaners, small, 12s Gd to 15s Gd; weaners, good quality, to 225; slips, to 245; stores, to 29s 6d; porkers, 27s to 34s Cd; baconer, 41s. There was a sharp rise in the price of poultry, which were as follows: Turkey gobblers, 9s 6d each; ducks, 4s Gd to 5s 4d per pair; white hens, 5s to Gs 2d per pair; heavy hens, up to 7s 2d po rpair; cockerels, 5s 4d to 6s 8d per pair; cockerels, 2 weeks old, 3s Gd to 4s Gd per dozen; hens and chicks, 11s, 12s Gd, 13s Gd each; broody hens, 5s 9d to Gs Gd each. Also: 2 fat lambs' at lGs Gd; ewes, 17s Gd. RONGOTEA STOCK SALE New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy., Ltd., Palmerston North, report: At Rongotea wo had a heavy yarding of pigs and a small entry of cattle.
