As the London to Brighton express was tearing along at 60 miles an hour someone pulled the communication cord and the train stopped. Hurrying to the second-class carriage indicated the guard found it contained only two passengers, a middle-aged woman and a man smoking a pipe. “What’s wrong hero?” sharply demanded the guard. Pointing indignantly to her fellow-pas-senger the woman said: “This man insists on smoking and I object.” “Well,” replied th 6 guard, “it’s a smoking carriage.
