POE PUBLIC SERVICES QUEEN To aid the candidature of Miss Kathleen Richards (Public Services Queen;, a most successful treasure hunt ball was held in tho De Luxe Hall on Friday evening. There was a good attendance, and both modern and oldtime dancing was . fully enjoyed, tbo music being supplied by the Gnlilic Services orchestra. Tho duties of M.C. wero shared by Messrs W. Huntington and T. Davidson. Chief interest in the evening for a great many of ‘.hose attending centred about the treasure hunt, and it provided full opportunity for those taking part to show their. ingonuity and knowledge of the city. Twenty-live articles had to bo obtained by tho competitors and they were given a certain time in which to bring them back to the hall. Tno prizes were presented by Miss Richards. The winner was Mr AV. McKenzie, who brought back 24 of the 25 articles. Miss A.. S. Pecs filled second place, she returning with 23 of the items, while Mr Taylor, who returned live seconds after Miss Pecs, took third place. A consolation prize was awarded Mr Buckeridge, he returning with 24 of the articles, but after the time limit had expired. During the evening four pupils of Miss Gibbs—Misses J. Reid, I. Brown, D. Berryman and A. Robson—danced a ballet number in costume and their work was so appreciated that there was no doubt about tho demand for another, Tho supper was fully enjoyed and dancing continued until about 1 a.m.
