Orouta Downs
From Our Own Correspondent. The district was visited by a heavy frost on Tuesday morning', and local gardeners had their potatoes, pumpkins, tomatoes, beans and other garden crops cut down. The frost also had a detrimental effect on the pastures and a good soaking rain now would be very welcome. Friends of Mr. A. (Snowey) Sanson, driver of the county truck stationed at Himatangi, and Mrs. Sanson, were deeply grieved to hear of the death of their oldest boy, aged five, on Sunday last, after only a few days’ sickness. The funeral took place at Foxton on Tuesday. Mr. A. Thomson is at present confined to the house, having broken a vein in his leg. He is under medical treatment and is likely to be laid up for a time.
