“Know Your Empire”
INTERESTING PUZZLE PICTURE CONTEST FOR “TIMES” READERS STARTS NOVEMBER 1 On Wednesday, November T, the first of a series of 42 puzzle pictures will be released by the “Times” and will continue for threo days a week until mid-January. The days of publication are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This is something quite different from most puzzles, and should prove a very interesting pastime. Each picture is a cartoon and is accompanied by a clue —in some cases several clues; but all of them quite definitely describe something or somebody connected with the British Empire. You will be surprised at the cunning arrangement of some of the cartoons. Many of tie apparently hard ones are the simplest. The “Times’’ offers a prize of £3 3s for the competitor sending in the most, correct solutions, with £2 2s and £1 Is for second and third places. All rules and conditions governing the competition will be published on W ednesdav next, when the first cartoon is released. Read these carefully. They will not be published again.
