From Our Own Correspondent. Foxton Relief Workers’ Association Mr, R. Bs’ne (president) presided over «. general meeting of the Foxton Relief AVorwers’ Association. Reference was made to the loss sustained by the Labour I’arty in the death of the late Jlr. H. E. Holland, leader of the Opposition in the ■House, A motion of sympathy was carried in silence. The proposed co-opera-tive society to be organised in the interests of tlio relief workers and the procedure for obtaining supplies was outlined by the president and secretary, and 1t was decided to proceed with the scheme. Air. T. Gregan, vice-president of the National Union of Unemployed, addressed the meeting on the work of the National Union and the progress made in organising throughout the Dominion. The question of the introduction of the piece-work system was fully discussed, the secretary giving out an outline of the instructions issued to local bodies in connection with same. The following resolution was passed: "That the Foxton Relief Workers’ Association opposes ail camp schemes, and piece-work and demands the full sustenance as laid down in the .Unemployment Act, 1930; that a copy of the resolution be sent to the press, national secretary and Minister of Unemployment." tinual cutting down of the relief workers' remuneration to the leader of the Opposition, it being pointed out that during the last ten weeks C class men had averaged only about £1 per week.
