Balloon Falls in Sea
DRAGGED TO BEACH EY SPEGTA- “ TORS AT BERWICK. .(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, Sept. 24. A German balloon, one of six participating in a long-distance flight,, left Dusseldorf at five o’clock on Saturday evening, and drifted over the North Sea, where tho gas-bag was punctured. The three occupants 'brew overboard everything movable, but struck the water at Berwick at noon. They were dragged to tho beach in a heavy wind.
Despite 30 spectators seizing the drag-rope, the balloon hit tho seawall. Dr. Dickmann Vernan, a balloonist, who had made 130 trips, was injured.
