Motorist Miraculously Avoids Serious Collision
EXPRESS HITS CAR BUMPER A miraculous escape from serious injury was experienced by Mr Jack Moore, a Taihapc farmer, on the Cook street level crossing about midday yesterday, when the car lie was driving was struck a glancing blow by tho express from Wellington. Mr Moore, when approaching the crossing, was watching the movements of an engine engaged at shunting near the intersection and failed to notice the express coming from the opposite direction until he was within a few feet of the rails. Tne motorist slewed his ear to one side and attempted to run parallel to the permanent way. He thus avoided a serious collision, but the engine caught the protruding bumper of the car, and damaged this in addition to twisting the springs.
Mr Moore escaped without Injury,
