The Tefcree urged tho pair several times to make a fight of it. The decision in favour of Singleton met with a hostile reception. In tho preliminary bouts, J. Richmond (Otago) boat M. Paulin (Southland), and J. Rcidy (Southland) beat W. Francis (Otago).
