Tame Boxing Contest at Invercargill
SINGLETON BEATS CAMPBELL. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Last Night. A professional heavy-weight boxing contest this evening between Alan Campbell (12.5), of Tiinaru, and George Singleton (13.10), of Invercargill (formerly of Australia), was won by Singleton on points after a tame exhibition. The Tefcree urged tho pair several times to make a fight of it. The decision in favour of Singleton met with a hostile reception. In tho preliminary bouts, J. Richmond (Otago) boat M. Paulin (Southland), and J. Rcidy (Southland) beat W. Francis (Otago).
