England's Best Handicap Horse
Colorado Kid registered his greatest performance when he put up 9.6 and won the Chesterfield Cup, over 10 furlongs. He had already won the Eoyal Hunt Cup and the “Jubilee” Handicap this season. Colorado Kid is a four-year-old by Colorado (Phalaris —Canyon, by Chaucer) from Baby Polly (14). Baby Polly is closely related to the Widden sire, Silvius, whose dam, Addenda, was a half-sister to Pretty Polly, and Baby Polly is by Spearmint (sire of Addenda) from Gallinule out of Admiration, by Saraband (14), a son of Muncaster, whose sire was Doncaster, sire of Bend Or. Colorado Kid is now classed as the best handicap horse racing in England.
