Two New Motor Ships For New Zealand Trade
ANNOUNCEMENT BY FEDERAL COMPANY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Federal Steam Navigation Company, Ltd. announces that it has contracted with Messrs. Workman, Clark and Company, shipbuilders, of Belfast, for two motor-ships, with dimensions and capabilities, as follow: Length, 490 feet between the perpendiculars; beam, 68 feet; gross tonnage, about 11,000; refrigerated space, 4G0,000 cubic feet; speed, about 16 knots per hour. Tho propelling machinery will be Sultzcr engines, built by Messrs. Workman, Clark and Company, and delivery of the ships is to be given by the autumn of 1934.
