United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Sunday, 7.10 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 23.
It is understood that as a result of conversations, France, Britain, tho United States and Italy have virtually agreed to disarmament in two stages. Tho first will extend for four years, in which no armaments will be allowed, and then a substantial reduction.
The important point is that France has agreed in principle to the effect of such disarmament.
Supported by League of Nations’ Union BRITAIN’S EFFORTS TO SECURE CONVENTION. (British Official Wireless.) Received Sunday, 7 p.m. RUGBY, Sept. 22. The executive committee of tho British branch of tho League of Nations’ Union passed a resolution assuring the Government of its strongest support for the Government’s present efforts to secure a convention for a reduction and limitation of armaments, with effective control, and expressing the belief that tho adoption of such a convention is more essential now than ever. It trusts that tho Government will press for an automatic periodic and effective system of supervision applicable to all countries alike, and for a reduction in armaments, which would begin on ratification of tho convention and proceed by regular stages.
