“The Airways are the Fairways ”

SAYS MISS HODGENS, OF NELSON. Living quietly by herself iti Nelson tor many years and not venturing far afield for over three decades, Miss Margaret Hodgens, a native of that town, electriiicd her relatives and friends a fortnight ago by her sudden decision to travel to Wellington by aeroplane on tho first stage of a journey north. Other passengers who flipped over the Straits that day included George Walker and fellow wrestlers. This was not Miss Hodgcn’s first flight iu an aeroplane but tho venture out over the sea was a courageous one for a lady who has 71 years to her credit. With a stop at Blenheim to refuel, the trip to Wellington took about an hour and 20 minutes, a thoroughly enjoyable and exhiliarating experience for Miss Hodgens, who is now looking fonvard to her next flight.

Miss Hodgens, who is an aunt o' Mr. J. Hodgens, of Palmerston North, has been spending a short holiday in Wanganui and Palmerston North and leaves to-dav on her return to Nelson.
