New Plane Arrives For City Owner
MR. M. 11. ORAM’S PURCHASE Piloted by Major Cowper, a new Spartan-Arrow aeroplane recently imported to New Zealand by Mr. M. H. Oram, of Palmerston North, arrived In the city on Saturday and was again seen in tho air yesterday afternoon. Painted in blue and yellow checkers like a chess board, the piano presents a very pretty appearance in flight. A feature of the “bus” is the 125 h.p. Gipsy engine wfrich is an exact replica of the engine that .Sir Charles Ivingsford Smith used in the Southern Cross Junior wdien he made Ms record breaking flight from England to Australia. Mr. Oram’s machine, originally built to carry one passenger, lias been redesigned to carry two.
