Knollmero was first away from Tudor and Joie dc Val. Tho last-named did not take the first fence too well and Knollmero had a commanding lead going past the stands, Henry of Navarro and Tudor being. next just ahead of -Waitunaha. Knollmero increased his lead going round, tho turn four furlongs from home and ho only had to stand up to win. Ho was 12 lengths in front going across the top and Henry of Navarre, Tudor and Joie de Val, at close intervals, followed him into tho straight. Knoilmerc made another great jump at the last fence and ho won pulling up by three lengths from Joie do Val, which cut Henry of Navarro out of second money by three-quarters of a length. Tudor, was fifth.

Superior (Colossus—Billet filly), for which there was pretty good support. Gay Blonde was the second favourite both ways and sho finished on in third place a length and. a-half away from the second horse. Tantara was first to show out, tho next in order being Pin Money, Capital, Morbury and Pomard. When they had settled down, Pin Money was .in the van followed by Capital .Pomard, Tantara, »Superior and Gay Blonde. Gay Blonde had drawn the rails, but she just missed the jump out. Pin Money was first into the straigiit, but ho was closely attended by Capital, Superior, which had moved up quickly, Tantara and Gay Blonde. The favourite was tackled by Superior half-way down the running, Superior establishing a slight lead which she had increased to a length and a-half from the post. Gay Blonde finished well in third place and Capital was fourth followed by Pomard, Morbury, Tantara, Leith, Flaxen, Bcdecm and Scholar.

Pladie Hangs On Well. The Marton-trained Pladie and St. Clara were sorted out for the Trial Handicap and they finished first and second after a hard tussle down the straight. Bust was less than a length away from them and Palm Queen was fourth. Campanero was one of tho leaders to the straight, but when he stopped ho appoared to get a bump from Pladie and Pheon got the worst of it. Pladie was first away from Hawora, Quebec, St. Clara, En Vidette, Bust, Bold Bid, Campanero, Pheon and Palm Queen. They had not gone far before En Vidette and Campanero ran up ahead of Pladie, who was followed by Quebec,' Pheon, St. Clara, Bust and Hawora, and Widdcn was moving up. There was little or no chango in the order as thoy raced across the top and Tin Vidette and Campanero showed the way into the straight ahead of Pladie, Pheon, Bust and St. Clara. Campanero dropped out of it and Pladie went to the front, but had. to be ridden out to hold off St. Clara, the margin between them at the finish being less than a length. Bust was third three parts of a length away and Palm Queen was a fair fourth. The next to finish were Hawora, En Vidette, Quebec, Bold Bid, Nighi runner and Pheon.

Tho Wanganui Guineas was a triumph for the Woudville 3-year-old, Bed Manfred, and after waiting on the leaders to I lie straight he went away to finish on his own. Tho track was dead and he covered the mile in really good time. Tho five runners went away together, Copyist and Porotiti leading round tho turn from B«ed Manfred, the short-priced favourite, Spiral and Snowball. There was no alteration in the order as they raced into tho back stretch and Copyist and Porotiti wore “smoking” along a eouplo of lengths in front of Bed Manfred, who was comfortably tucked in on tho rails and going very easily. Snowball moved up ahead of Spiral at tho five furlongs and crossing tho top Copyist and Porotiti were a length ahead of Bed Manfred. L. G. Morris shook tho favourito up on the home turn and in a couple of strides he was abreast of tho leaders, quickly drawing away from them. From then on there was only one horse in it and Bed Manfred was not extended to win by five lengths from Spiral with Copyist two lengths further back. Porotiti was fourth.

View Halloo in tho Higgle Handicap, but the race was won by Fiji, tho son of Nigger Minstrel leading all the way to reward his backers with a dividend of over a quarter of a century. Speedmint, Chopin and Joie de Val were scratched and from a good start Fiji began best to lead past the stands from View Halloo, Midiam, Curie, Little Doubt, Gibraltar and Bramblctorn. Midiam dropped back on the turn but otherwise the order was unchanged. Crossing the top Fiji, who had slow'ed them up, was half a length ahead of Little Doubt, who had moved up a length ahead of Curie aud View Halloo. Midian, Gibraltar and Brambletorn followed in that order. Fiji was first into the straight from Little Doubt, Curio, View Halloo and Midian and a great finish resulted. Curio and View Halloo immediately throw out challenges but Fiji stuck to his guns. Halfway dorm the running, Curio looked like catching tho winner, but could get no nearer than half a length. Then View Halloo had a try, but Fiji hung on and was still half a head to the good as the trio passed the judge, Curie being a short nock away from View Halloo. Little Doubt was fourth followed by Gibraltar and Bramblctorn.

Tripping was withdrawn, from the Moutoa Hack and- in a good betting race there was most support for Cherry King, Plateau and Ythan. Plateau led out of the straight followed by Cherry King, Nebulae, Ythan, Heather Glow and Grey Papa. Going along the back the order was much the same except that Cherry King had taken up the role of pacemaker, and he led across tho top from Plateau and Nebulae at intervals of less than a length. These were followed by Grey Papa, Ythan, Cape Fair, Heather Glow and D’Artagnan. Ythan moved up into fourth place at tho home turn and the leaders were unchanged into tho straight. Once in lino for the judge, Plateau challenged and soon had Cherry King’s measure. Nebulae then tackled Cherry King and there was a good race for second place, Cherry King finishing gamely to boat Nebulae by half a length. Plateau won well by over a length. D’Artagnan was fourth closely attended by Cape Fair, Heather Glow,'Ytlian and Grey Papa. Pomp-Mi dinette Bracket.

Boyal Hunting and The Tiger were' still in the van at the home turn and thoy led into tho straight thiee lengths in front of Slippery and Midinette. Sir Pombal was drifting and Pomp was last. Boyal Hunting drew away from Slippery anil was still in front a hundred yards from tho post. Then Midinette challenged and established a .lead, but she failed to withstand Pomp, on the outer, Pomp getting up to win by a head from Midinette with Boyal Hunting a length away from the second horse.
