Wellington's New Railway Station
TIME FOR RECEIPT OF TENDERS EXTENDED Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night.' Mr. H. H. .Sterling, chairman of the Government Railways Board, to-day announced that after consultation with lit. Hon. G. W. Forbes it nud been decided to extend the timo for receiving tenders for tho erection of tho new station at Wellington i«r anotner ten days. • Tenders would now closo on October 5. This was being dono to give New Zealand manufacturers every opportunity to make contact with prospective tenderers and, if necessary, arrange for alternative prices to bo quoted for imported and New Zealand materials.
“It is believed,” said Mr. Sterling, “that tho extension will be of material assistance to New Zealand manufacturers and will enable fuller information to be given, so that the policy of the board and the Government, as already announced, may be applied to the contract in the light of the fullest information obtainable.”
