Gift Afternoon at Cheltenham
A very pleasant gift afternoon took place on Wednesday at the homo of Mrs H. Brooker, and was organised by Mrs J. C. Corkill with the object of assisting in furnishing a Christmas tree for the bazaar that is to be held at Cheltenham towards the end of November in aid of Anglican. Church funds. The drawing-room, where freesias and daffodils had been prettily arranged, looked charming, as also did the. livingroom with its effective decoration of flowering elm. Competitions province! the chief amusoment and were interspersed with merry games, while a wiroless set added to the afternoon’s entertainment. A golf putting competition was won. by Miss Beatrioe Moss, an advertisement competition by Miss Ethel Thompson, and Mesdames T. Ireland and W. G. Booth tied in guessing the number of articles on a table. Unfortunately very boisterous weather prevailed and several outside, games had to be cancelled. The dainty afternoon tea dispensed was much enjoyed and the gifts taken along by those present made a nice little collection that will bo of groat help in decorating the Christmas tree later on, and will doubtless bo much appreciated by the little folk.
