From Our Own Correspondent. In spite of the heavy rain which set in steadily on Tuesday night, the Ohakea ■ hail was comfortably filled on the occasion of the Football Club’s dance. The happy crowd of dancers spent a most en'joyable evening and for those who preferred something less strenuous, a flag 500 tournament was held.. The decora- : tion in'the hall made a pretty sight together with the gay frocks of the ladies. Music was supplied by a professional orchestra and dancing was kept up until the early hours. During the evening various novelty dances were held, the winners of the Monte Carlo being Miss Price and Mr. R. Ingram. The statue dance was won by Miss N. Frecklington and air. J. Frecklington. The winners of the card tournament, which was supervised by Mr. A. Pedersen, were as follow:—Ladies, Mrs. W. Robinson and Mrs. D. Heggie; men, Mr. A. Smith and Mr. VV, Clewlow. Consolation prizes were won by Mrs. H. Ellery and Messrs D. Higgle, J. McCutehan and G. Taylor. At a suitable juncture Mr. F. Bailey (president) briefly welcomed Mr. H. J. Fagan and other visitors, and congratulated the club on the success of its first season. Pie also referred to the happy feelings vhich existed in the Te Kawau Union and to the work done by Mr. Fagan as president. He then asked Mr. Fagan to present the ■ third grade shield and club trophies. Mr. Fagan congratulated the club on its successes during- the past season and wished the club ■ success in the coming season. He also thanked the officials for their work in the cause of Rugby in the union, and .in handing ove? the shield to the third grade captain hoped that they would do their best to retain it next year. Mr. N. Ingram, suitably replied. The following trophies were also presented: Medal presented by Mr. Rae Scott for fittest player, won by Mr. A. Pedersen; medal presented by Messrs H. Ellery and B. Frecklington for most improved senior player, won by Mr. D. Capstiek; medal presented by Mr. I. N. Leet for most improved third grade player, won by Mr. P. Ellery. Cheers were given for the winners and doners of the medals, and also for the third grade team. A dainty supper was served by a ladies’ committee headed by Mrs. J. Capstick and Mrs. B. J. Frecklington. The duties of M.C. were ably carried out by Mr. G. Frecklington and Mr. E. Ingram, while an extra was played by Miss liana Frecklington. Mr. W. Tohu made a welcome appearance after his sojourn in hospital and entertained with two songs, the second being a duet with Mr. W. Winiata, both efforts being much appreciated. Mr. D. Capstiek, on behalf of chib members, presented the secretary (Mr. I. N. Beet) with a pocket wallet as a marK of appreciation of services rendered during the past season. Mr. Leet suitably replied and expressed the hope that next season would be more successful than the past one had been. The weekly practice shoot of the local club was held on Monday when the attendance was good but the shooting not up to standard. The following were the scores:—E. Simpson 69, 6!)—133; C.
