The issue of boots to relief workers by the Palmerston North office of the Unemployment Board is now nearing completion. Of the country workers, wlio have been receiving their quota during the past week or two, only those under the control of the Manawatu and Oroua County Councils aro now awaiting their issue, which will be made within the next few days. It is estimated, however, that approximately another 300 pairs will bo required to meet additional demands from the city, and when these are distributed, nearly every Telief worker in the district will be furnished with a pair of boots. The residential, qualifications have been modified somewhat, so that in deserving cases the department may now -waive the former stipulation that tho recipient should have been continuously engaged on relief -works for at least 26 weeks.
