From Our Own Correspondent. The popularity of the fortnightly Tuesday euchre evenings was evident by the large and enthusiastic crowd that assembled on Tuesday, evening. Two ladies, Mesdames Lawrence and Keith, tied for first place, while Mr. P. Christianson annexed the men’s prize. The consolation prizes were won by Mrs. Uhrbom and Mr. Corbon. Following euchre, supper was served. A short but very enjoyable dance followed, players being Miss Pye and Messrs W. McMurray and H. Robson. H. Gore conducted in his usual efficient manner.

Mrs. Keith Is an Auckland visitor to the district. She is staying with Mrs. Speedy at “Forbrae.” Miss W. Vautier is visiting Tiakitahuna as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Vautier. Miss M. Harvey returned from a visit spent with Mrs. Frith. Miss C. XV. Vautier is holidaying at Mr. and Mrs. E. Vautier’s at Maklno.

The many friends of Mrs. McLeavy will be pleased to hear that she is sufficiently recovered to be about again. Miss C. Mills, who has been on the sick list, is improving, as also is little Janet Oxenham. The local "Hercules” are still keeping up their tug-of-war practices, and expect to give a good account of themselves at Aokautere.

The Drama Club has entered a play In the drama festival to be held the first week in September. Mrs. Jiggers motored down to Paraparaumu last week to spend her vacation. Members are reminded that the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute to be held the first Friday in the month, will commence \at 1.45 p.m., there being a large programme to be got through. Mrs. J. W. Flint, of Wellington , is staying with Mrs. Uhrborn. Mrs. Frith, who has been confined to her bed with an influenza cold, is now about again.
