Byrd’s Next Big Trip

ELABORATE EQUIPMENT TOR INVASION OF ANTARCTICA. NEW YORK, August 25. During a brief visit here, Rear-Ad-miral Byrd revealed his plans for his forthcoming Antarctic expedition. He was not ready to divulge tho date of departure, but would be within two months. The supply ship, which is named the Pacific Fur, is an 8800-ton steel oilburner, ten times as large as the City of New York. A wooden brigantine named the Bear will servo as an outpost ship. A special bi-motored aeroplane is under construction. It will be equipped with slri landing-gear, and will have space to carry fifteen passengers in addition to throe of a crew. Tho cruising speed of tho plane will be 155 miles per hour. The complete personnel of the expedition has not yet been announced, but it will include Harold June, one of the three men who took part in the South Pole flight, Commander George Noville, a veteran of Byrd’s Arctic trip and trans-Atlantic flight, and Scout Paul Sinnle.
