Saturday’s Professional Road Race
BAILEY WINS COMFORTABLY The race run by the Counties’ Cash Cycling Club on Saturday was of 24 miles distance and the route was to Fending via Vogel street and Bunnythorpe The conditions were ideal for road racing and very fast times for tho distance were put up by the riders, Lurmooro from virtual scratch doing the journey in the smart time of 61min. 14scc., thus beating the record set by Collins last, week by lmin. ISscc. The members of this club are growing steadily and the young riders are very keen as the time for the 100-mile Palmerston North -Wanganui and return race to be held on September 30 and which will bo on open event, grows near. Members of the St. John Ambulance were in attendance in case lof any misbap. The race resulted as under:— C. Bailey (lOrnin.) 63min. 12spc. .. 1 B. Mcßrearty (lljmin.) 64min. 31 2-sscc. .. •• ” A. Ganderton (9min.) 62min. 20 l-ssec. .. ...... .... 3 Also started: W. Rodgers (15min), W. Collins (6min), W. Smith (13}min), M. Luxmoore (6min.) j Luxmoore made fastest time (6imin. Msec.) with Collins right up on his wheel. Noxt Saturday’s race will be to Fcilding via Ashhurst and Bunnythorpe, a distance of about 32 miles.
