Notes of the Day
Shortly before midday on Saturday a large motor lorry collided heavily against a telegraph pole at the corner of Manchester and Gladstone streets, Feilding. The impact caused the pole to snap off about Bft from the ground, but the vehicle practically escaped damage. Temporary repairs were put in hand by the P. and T. Department to secure the telegraph wires. The Stanway Hockey and Football Clubs will hold a combined dance in the Stanway Hall on September <5. The Rev. D. Calder, Dominion secretary of the British and Foreign Bible Society, (took the service at St. Paul’s Church, Feilding, yesterday morning, and last evening preached at St. John’s Anglican Church. The Hon. L. M. Isitt, M.L.C., who spent the week-end in Feilding, was a spectator at the R.ugbv match, Feilding Old Boys v. United, on Saturday afternoon. He conducted the evening service at the Feilding Methodist Church yesterday. At the Feilding Methodist Church yesterday morning the Rev. E. 0. Blamires made special reference to the passing of Mrs W. Carthew, senior.
