The primary schools’ annual quadrangular Rugby tournament was advanced a further stage this afternoon in showery weather, when Wanganui defeated Manawatu by 15 to nil and Wellington won from Wairarapa 6 J. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Tho annual quadrangular intereolegc Rugby tournament between Wellington, Christ’s, Wanganui and Nelson concluded to-day in victory for Wellington College, who defeated Christ’s College in the final by nine to six. The match was played under tho worst possible weather conditions and resolved itself into a forward struggle. Wellington owed their victory to tho way their forwards stood up to tho heavier Christ’s pack. Had the Christchurch team kept tho ball on tho ground instead of attempting to bring their backs into play in tho last quarter of an hour, they would at least havo made a draw of it. Tho Nelson-Wanganui College match resulted in a win for Nelson by six points to five. Silverstream Easily Retain Holly Shield Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. In the final of the annual -triangular Rugby tournament between St. Patrick’s Collego (Wellington), St. Patrick’s (Silverstream) and St. Bede s (Christchurch), St. Patrick’s (Silverstream) defeated St. Bede’s by 20 points to nil. St. Patrick’s thus retain tho Holly Shield. A greasy ground and a heavy, elusive ball, made the conditions difficult and the two rival packs fought out tho issue.
