Waituna West

From Our Own Correspondent Footballers’ Ball. On Friday evening- last the hall in Waituna West presented a wonderfully animated scene, the occasion being the annual footballers’ ball; The hall was most attractively decorated with ferns and greenery, while bowls and vases of red flowers gave a. most pleasing effect to the supper room and tables. To the committee and band of helpers credit must be given for the capable organisation which resulted in a bounteous supper of poultry and meat savouries. Dancing was carried on till the small hours of the morning, music being supplied by a professional orchestra. Both modern and old-time dances were contributed. The floor was in excellent order and with the dainty bright coloured frocks of tho ladies, the scene was decidedly picturesque. Among those present were Mesdames L. Peek and family were visiting friends in the Waituna district. Miss A. Bradley, of Palmerston North, is the guest of Mrs. W. Johnson. Mr. V. North was tho guest of Mr. and Mrs. R. Smith during tho week-end and has' now left for his homo in the Wanganui district. Mr. Y\ Shannon and Mr. B, Shannon were visitors to Wanganui during the week-end. The final match for tho Beard cup, between Apiti A arid Waituna West, resulted in a, win for Apiti A by 9—G.
