BATANA ON TOUR 5 AUCKLAND, Aug. 18. Wironiu Batana and party, whose North Auckland tour was out short by tho enforcement of the health regulations designed to prevent the spread of sleeping sickness, passod through Auckland to-day on route to his homo. There are over 50 in the party, including two football teams, a brass band, and a number of women. A limousine and three trucks are carrying the party, one of whom said tho next stopping place probably would be Matamata. The football teams would play about six more matches before reaching home. Mr E. Tirikatene, M.P., said the Maoris had not defied the law in the north and force was not necessary aa a few -tactful words by Batana would “do tho trick.”
