The anti-cyclone which controlled the weather during most of last week is giving way to a depression which is advancing from the Tasman Sea. Winds: Moderate to strong northrvest to northerly, reaching gale force on parts of the coast, changing to southerly within 24 hours.

Seas (New Zealand waters): Moderate generally, but rising shortly, especially on the West Coast. hlastern Tasman Sea: Strong northeasterly winds backing to southerlies and reaching gale force in places. Seas rough.

Weather: Mainly fair to line, but rain developing soon in western districts and becoming fairly general during the next two days. Temperatures mild. Some snow is likely later on the ranges and in the south.
