Yorkshire Wins County Cricket Championship

Yorkshire won the county cricket championship for the third year in succession and the 17th time when they beat Notts by ten wickets. Their success was due chiefly to the bowling of Verity, McAulay and Bowes. Hammond in Brilliant Mood 195 NOT OUT AGAINST WEST INDIES Received Sunday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 19. Playing against West Indies, Gloucester in the first innings made 454 for the loss of six wickets (Barnett 00, Lyon 69, Hammond 195 not out). Dempster Does Well Against West Indies LONDON, Aug. IS. Playing against Sir Lindsay Parkinson’s eleven, West Indies in their first innings scored 165 (Macdonald five for 58); second 152 (Richardson five for 67). Sir Lindsay Parkinson’s eleven scored: First innings, 116 (Martindalc eight for 39); second, 203 for seven (Dempster, not out, 76). Dempster scored 13 in the first innings.
