Manawatu Foreign Bird Club

Tie monthly meeting of the Manawatu Foreign Bird Club was held last Thursday evening, Mr A. W. Just presiding over n good attendance of members. Four more Bird fanciers in the persons of Messrs Gordon Wickes, S. I. McKenzie, T. P. Burke and If. Eichards wcfe unanimously elected members, and satisfaction was' expressed by the chairman at - the continued growth of membership, and the keen interest which -was being displayed’’ by members in the activity of’ the club. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr H. E. Edmunds, a vice-president of the ‘ club, for a gegerous donation towards the .club’s funds. Consideration was given to tho matter of giving.assistance to fanciers who aro inexperienced so far as the oaro of birds afo concerned and who, for this reason, may be glad to have advice. It was felt by members that this should be.a prominent feature of the club’s -work, ‘ and it’ was decided to make it known as ’much as possible that tho

dub would welcome opportunities of giving what help it could to bird fanciers.

A suggestion was advanced that the club should hold a show of its own at a suitable' time, and it was decided tc give full consideration to this matter at a later meeting whon information in regard to possible support and financial outlay had been obtained. Mr F. Eonberg, at the request oi members, consented to prepare a papei on the management and breeding oi Zebra Finches, to be read at tho next meeting of the club. On tho motion of Mr 11. E. Edmunds, it was unanimously decided to extend the club’s congratulations to Sir Arthui Juit on his winning the North Island Championship in tho Budgerigar section at the recent Palmerston North Show It was decided that, in the future meetings of tho club be held on the first Thursday of each month.
