Millions Spent on Beauty.
Gone are the days when beauty unadorned wag adorned the most. American women are spending moro than £112,000,000 a year on aids to beauty, or moro than £300,000 a day (states tho New York Correspondent of the Daily Hail). Customers number 20,000,000, each of whom spends about £6 a year, of wflrich £2 goes on cosmetics, and £4 on facial treatment. "Is it any wonder,” comments an enthusiastic beauty specialist, "that American women arc said to be the most beautiful in the world!” Turning to comparative statistics, the beauty trade finds that Hollywood spent about £29,000,000 on films last year, and women spent four times as much in making themselves pretty to go and see them. American men spent on tobacco and haberdash-
cry £47,000,000. Besides the millions spent on their faces, American women paid £36,000,000 for hats to match.
