Abusing Hire Purchase System
CASES OF HARDSHIP IN CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. An attack on the hire purchase system with particular reference to the seizure of goods when payment was almost completed was made at a meeting of the executive of the Metropolitan Relief Association this evening, eases of hardship caused by the seizure of furniture were quoted. On the other hand it was stated that vendors mostly gave a reasonable period of grace before seizure. Tho suggestion made was that tho vendor should bo allowed to distrain only for the amount of the balance owing. Tho executive decided to refer the matter to the housing section of the Business Men ’3 Relief Committee.
