Winooka in Training Quarters
MAY NOT BE READY TOR TANFORAN United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright Received Sunday, 9.50 p.m. Having successfully removed IN inooka to satisfactory training quarters, his owners to-day opened negotiations with the Tanforan officials regarding tho Australian horse's possible appearance there provided his training was completed before the meeting closes. It is estimated his training will require about five weeks and it is doubtful if the track will still be open, in which event the owners will follow their original plan of coming cast on August 1. Winooka’s training place is King Heather farm, located at Walnut Greek, 30 miles from San Francisco, and is the property of Mr. John Marchbank, a noted local breeder and sportsman. Winooka is eating Californian oats and grain but is using his own hay brought from Australia. There was some trouble in quarantine yesterday, the health inspectors insisting tnat some of the imported food was contaminated with flag smut. Fifteen sacks of wheat and bran were condemned.
