Remarkable success has followed tho recommendations of Dr. Freeman, of the Nelson branch of the Department of Agriculture in connection with swede crops in tho Murchison district whero club-root disease is prevalent. Last year he recommended the horning variety and one crop of: this variety was grown on an area approaching thirty acres with good results, while alongside on the same farm the turnips failed owing to the club-root disease. As this district is dependent largely on root crops for winter feed the success of this variety is of much importance.
