MR. JONATHAN HOLDEN Not only in Hawke’s Bay but also in Manawatu, will widespread regret be felt at the death of Mr. Jonathan Holden which occurred yestorday at his residence at Makotulcu. Deceased was a successful farmer and breeder of many years standing and had farmed his property at Makotuku for 30 years or more. Ho also supported A. and P. shows of the Manawatu and Hawko’s Bay magnificently with stock exhibits and won countless prizes and championship ribbons. In- his younger days Mr. Holden took an active part in public affairs, being a member of the Danncvirke Hospital Board for 16 consecutive years and was on the North Ruataniwha Road Board before it became the Waipawa county. The Dannevirke Racing Club also honoured him as its patron and the Manawatu A. and P. Association elected him as its representative in the district where lie resided, Wince 1925 deceased had been annually re-elected patron of the .Dannevirke A. and P. Association. , Born in Manchester (England), Mr. Holden, who was tho son of an early colonist, arrived in Now Zealand in 1559 and. was educated at Napier. He went early into the farming business..
