From Our Own Correspondent. On Saturday afternoon a match took place locally between Stanway and Tokorangi and was won by the visitors, who scored 4 goals to Stanway’s 3. Tho game was a hard and fast one, in which Tokorangi showed considerable improvement since last coming into contact with Stanway. S. Rowe and E. Alsop scored for tho home team. Messrs J. Macfarlane and Williams were the referees. Tho results of the Country Cabbage Association matches played on Monday were: Beaconsficld defeated Stanway at Boaeonsiield by 30 games to 20," Kimbolton defeated Waituua, at Kimbolton, by 20 games to 21, and Chelcnham defeated Kiwitcn, at Cheltenham, by 26 games to 24. A danco organised by tho local Women’s Institute was held on 'Tuesday ovening, there being many present, among whom were folk who long ago gave up dancing but were attracted by the programme of old-timo dance music relayed from 2ZO. Mesdames T. Miles and E. Bosser made very good doorkeepers. A euchre tournament took place in the card room, the prize-winners being Mrs Johnson, Mr E. Christian, Mrs Burke and Mr W. Cole. Mrs A. L. There was a particularly large attendance at the match played locally on Wednesday afternoon between Stanway-Tokorangi and Oiinganiti. The match was fairly evenly contested, but tho home team proved somewhat superior, especially the forwards, who plaved a very fine game. The tosg went to Toko-Stanway, who elected to play against the wind. After the kick-off play for a time was noticeably even, but a fast forward rush headed by A. Marshall enabled Eric Morrison .-to snap up tho leather, and putting in a nice little run, score the first try for the local team. H. Blunders kick at goal missed. Some nice passing rashes by Ohinganiti s backs brought no result, and Toko-Stanway were soon on the attack again. For an infringement the visitors were penalised near their line, this giving Bluuden a chance to goal with a yep nice kick. Following give-and-take play Ohinganiti went close to scoring with a good forward rush, Toko-Stan-wav clearing, and ®the s P ell Toko-Stanway 6, Ohinganiti nil. ino second spell opened with fine dashing play by both, sets of forwards, but the home team again got oontrol of the game, with the result that after a frood forward rush the ball was sent out to Blunden, who managed to cross fairly well out, and was successful with his kick. Ohinganiti made desperate bids to break down the opposition, but Toko-Stanway played gallantly, still showing dash, and when time "was called were holding their opponents safe. The match ended: TokoStanway 11, Ohinganiti nil. By tin win the local team is enabled to etui retain the Bengal cup. Mr Thompson gave every satisfaction as referee.
