Okkea

From Our Own Correspondent Hockey Club’s Successful Dance • The public hall at Ohakea was taxed to- its utmost capacity, in fact dancers found it almost too crowded, on Wednesday night for the Ohakea Hockey Club’s dance, and the function went with a characteristic swing from the first dance onward, and the many dancers who had come from Bulls, Horton, Feilding and Palmerston North, spent a very jolly evening. The hall had been specially decorated with a forest of paper streamers, and the hockey girls daintily arranged in apron and cap, made up in the club colours of red and black, served a most appetising supper. For the non-dancers there was a flag 500 tournament, and this was won by Mrs J. Capstick and Mrs Armitage and Messrs A. Smith and Kluer. The table losing the most flags was that of Mesdamos Matthews and J. Ellery and Messrs C. and D. Kerr. The ham competition was finalised and was won by Mr D. Capetick. A confetti battle was held during the evening and two novelty dances also took place, being won by Miss Richardson and Mr Ted Harris and Miss Harris and Mr E. Broughton. During the supper interval extras were contributed by Miss Frecklington and Messrs J. Healey and Bramweli. Miss P. Wereta and Messrs Denis Richardson and M. Winiata pleased with several vocal items. Mr D. Capstick, who ably carried out the duties of M.C., thanked those present for their patronage, and assured them that the Ohakea Hockey Club, although yet in its infancy, would do its share in putting the district on the map.
