Hockey in Feilding
SATURDAY’S GAMES Only fair class hockey was witnessed in the two games played on Victoria park, Feilding, on Saturday under the jurisdiction of the Feilding Hockey Association. High School Old Girls and Colyton played a drawn game which was a true result, the teams being evenly matched for tho class of game exhibited. Referee, Mr. E. A. Garlick. Stanway accounted for Pirates in a very scrappy game, there being far too many infringements for good hockey, and the referees, Messrs J. MacFarlane and S. Chesterfield, would have profited the players more had they been more strict in imposing penalties. At Tokorangi, Colyton men beat tne Maori boys in a good, clean game ably controlled by Messrs T. Tricklebank and W. Williams. At Carnarvon the Carnarvon ladies were victorious over Hinekoa in a game in which both sides gavo an exhibition of good hockey but the winners were able to finish their work. Carnarvon men had to strike their colours to the consistent Wanderers. This was also a good game as Carnarvon ground is usually in good order. Messrs G. E. McKenzio and A. C. Johnson had the whistles. The following aro the detailed results:— Ladies’ games: H.S.O.G. 1 v, Colyton 1; Carnarvon 5 v. Hinekoa 1. Men’s games: Colyton 4 v. Tokorangi 0; Wanderers 3 v. Carnarvon 2; Stanway 4 v. Pirates 1.
