Low Price for Breeding Ewes Maintained

Considerable interest centred in the store sheep section of the Addington market to-day, as on Monday and Tuesday a record low level for breeding ewes was reached at the fairs. The low level was maintained for inferior and average grades, but there was a slight advance for the very best young ewes. The fat stock sections sold steadily and firm at late rates. Store sheep.—The entry was large, with lines forward from the Chatham Islands, Nelson, Marlborough and Southland. Values wero: Extra'good 2th Romney to 16s 3d, extra good 4-year to Ss 6d, extra good 2-th Romney cross 13s 6d to 15s 3d, good 2-th to 13s 3d, good 4 and 6-th to 13s 6d, extra good 0 and 8-th 9s to 10s 3d, good 6 and 8-th to 7s 9d, good 4-year 6s to 6s Id, goou 5-year 4s 4d to 4s 7d, extra good 2-th halfbred 13s 3d to 16s 2d, inferior 2-th 6s 3d to 7s 9d, inferior 2 and 4-th 7s to Bs, good 4-year Gs to 7s lOd, average 4-year 3s lid to 5s 9d, good 4 and 6-th crossbred to 12s 6d, good 6 and 8-th to Ss Bd, good 4-year 6s to 7s Id, average 4-year 4s to 5s 9d, extra good 2-th three-quarterbred to 14s 7d, good 6 ana 8-th 6s 4d to 7s 4d, good 2-th Corriedale to 13s 6d, good 4-ycar to 6s 4d. Fat lambs.—There was aii entry of 2800, of good quality. Bidding was. keen and a slight advance on late rates was recorded. Values were: Extra prime lambs to ,16s Id, primo .15s, prime 11s 6d to 13s 6d, light 10s to lls 6d. Fat sheep.—The sale w r as a steady one on the basis of late rates. Values were: Extra prime heavy wethers to 16s lOd, prime heavy 14s 6d to 16s, prime medium weight 12s to 14s, ordinary and light 10s to lls 6d, extra prime heavy ewes to 10s lOd, prime heavy 9s to 10s, medium weight 6s 9d to 8s 6d, ordinary 4s 9d to 6s 6d, light 5s Gd to 6s 6d. Fat cattle.—There was an entry of 375 head. Best quality maintained late Tates, but inferior sorts were easier. Best beef made 16s to 18s 6d per 100 lbs, extra good to 20s, ordinary steer and heifer 13s to 15s 6d, rough 7s to 10s. Extra prime steers £6 5s to £B, prime £5 5s to £6 15s, light and ordinary £2 7s 6d to £4 10s, extra prime hoifers to £7 12s 6d, primo £3 15s to £5 10s, ordinary £2 15s to £3 ss, light £2 10s, extra prime cows to £6 7s Cd, prime £3 5s to £5, ordinary and aged £1 to £3.

Fat pigs.—Values wore: Choppers £2 to £4 lls, baconers 36s 6d to 43s Gd, heavy 47s 6d to 53s 6d, average price per pound 3jd to 41d; porkers 23s 6d to 27s 6d, heavy 30s to 33s 6d, average price per pound 4d to 5Jd.
