At yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Education Board the architect (Mr. Hodge) reported that he had made an inspection of the new fencing at West End school, to which the board had made a grant of £lO. Mr. Hodge considered it quite unnecessary to build such a substantial seven-wire fence, for the reason that it would havo to bo removed in the near future and allow the additional area to be added to and made use of along with the original playing area. Mr. Hodge recommended that where future applications involving expenditure of the board’s maintenance grant were received, a brief specification of the work, and estimated cost, be submitted.

Yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Education Board decided to ask the Education Department to take over the Boys ’ and Girds Agricultural Clubs. "The advent of the cabbage white butterfly is being closely noted in all schools, and full instruction is being given to the children as to its life history, damage, etc. Full treatment of other insect pests as they are noted in the districts is dealt with, and this dissemination of information among the parents is greatly appreciatedy” said the agricultural inspector in his report to the Wanganui Education Board yesterday.
