Acton, once known as the “laundry” of London, because of the number of laundries it contained, is now develop* ing in many other directions. In preWar days there were 300 laundries; now there are only’ 133 —but there are 270 factories engaged in other industries, ranging from the making of motor cars t-o toffee and lead soldiers.
