UNIONISTS OBJECT TO WAGE CUT United Press Association—By Elcefris Telegraph—Copyright HOLLYWOOD, March 11. Tho unionised motion picture studio workers on Saturday rejected the general pay reduction proposal and served an ultimatum on the producers that unless the plan is abandoned approximately 15,000 will quit work. Ihe time-limit for acceptance of the ultimatum was set for 1 p.m. oti Saturday, but was advanced hour by hour as the delegates from 21 labour unions and producers continued their conference. There was no indication on Saturday night that the conferences wore near tho end. A walk-out, will probably result in ». complete shutdown of ten studios.
One Day Studio Holiday
HOLLYWOOD, March 11
The producers htvvo declared a studio holiday on Monday to permit conferences with non-union employees in an effort, to get them to accept weeks a 50 per cent, wage cut whip the union workers continue on full salary until the question is settled by arbitration.
Too Busy to Mind Earthquakes

The earthquake failed, to stop tho motion picture stars from discussing tho prospective 50 por cent, pay cut, but it did mako tho film people forget one of the old prides of the theatre fdr s. moment. Reginald Barlow had just called a meeting to order when the first ’quake came and the players headed for the door, but Barlow boomed out*. “If this is an earthquake I need not remind you. that the safest place to be is where you are.” There was a flutter of laughter as the celebrities marched back to their chairs. During the remainder of the meeting there were several other shocks, but as one put it: "Wo never noticed them after tbo first one. There was too much, commotion about this salary thing.”
