An intense anti-cyclone is now located cast of New Zealand. A shallow depression is centred near Cape Maria Van Diemen and a rather deep one near Tasmania.

Winds: North-east to northerly, strong in the Far North; elsewhere moderate but increasing. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rough north of East Cape; elsewhere smooth to moderate.

Eastern Tasman Sea: Fresh to strong east to north winds and rather rough to rough seas. Weather: Showers in the northern and north-eastern portion of the North Island, extending gradually southwards; otherwise fair to fine. Temperatures warm.
